I think we've all seen the Tornado adds on TV that tout more horsepower and better mileage. I don't know how many of you have used it, or plan to use it, but my thoughts are that anything placed inside the intake tube HAS to restrict airflow, if even a little.

So, has anyone seen the throttle body spacer products that are out? It's basically a metal plate about an inch thick that is placed in between the throttle body and the intake manifold. Instead of a "tornado-like" object placed in the direct path of oncoming air, the throttle body spacers are designed with, what look like THREADS along the inside of the spacer. This is supposed to swirl the air, and in effect, give higher horsepower returns and better mileage.

Has anyone tried this product or any product like it? I'm not considering buying it, I'm just curious.

Ive seen those things, or THING. I get Summit Racing catalogs and they always have weird stuff i never see in other magazines.

The "MATRIX RACING DISTRIBUTOR" comes to mind. I was like "Wow, ive never seen anyone else offer a HIGH END DISTRIBUTOR!" Then i read the italics that said, "Produces same spark energy as GSR Integra distributor" Wow, i was soo impressed..............NOT!

P.S. They do sell those WHEEL VINTIQUES 06P import drag racing rims for like 50 bux each. You can get 15x6, 15x7, or even a 15x8! Thats fairly cheap wheel to put a 22x8x15 slick on.

the tornado and all the rest of these "plate spacers et cetera " may help out an originally poor engine / intake design , like almost any american engine out there . an example being my bros mustang . he put a tps spacer in and relocated the intake air pressure sensor (not map on the fords , but cant remember the actual name). all told this $70's worth of an aluminum plate and a plug bung really opened up the power on the shitstang . even sitting shotgun i could immediately feel the midrange increase in torque . hondas are engineered pretty tight , just look at what minimal gains intake and exhaust mods do for the n/a . unless an independent source can verify power gains from these products id keep them in the "probably crapie" catagory .
